Having grown up in Scotland, Australian born Corner of Kersland designer, Tammy Woods, spent her 20s and early 30s in Sydney.
Her love of colour and flamboyant clothing fitted well with the warm Sydney weather. Upon returning to live in Scotland in 2019 the cooler climate found her spending much of the year with heavy jumpers and dark colours on.
“When I returned to Scotland, I loved the change in seasons. Due to the sometimes moody Scottish weather I found it hard to combine my love of colour and looking stylish with the need to be warm (I really feel the cold!). I often felt I had to choose between looking good or being warm. Taking inspiration from Japanese Kimonos and traditional Moroccan djellaba are designed to be the stand out part of your outfit. Not just a coat you put on to go from A to B then remove instantly they turn a casual jeans and t-shirt look into a beautiful warm outfit.
I wanted to create kimonos that make you feel confident and light up a space while being warm and comfortable.”
